The UNWG Geneva provides financial support for projects worldwide, dedicated to improving living conditions, healthcare, and education for disadvantaged children, and empowering women through vocational training and skills development. These micro-projects are designed to be completed within six months, with a maximum funding allocation of CHF 6,000 per project.
Funding applications are submitted by UNWG Geneva members and are carefully reviewed by the V-P Projects. Final approval for funding is granted by the UNWG Executive Committee.
To date, the UNWG Geneva has financed over 2,000 projects in more than 100 countries, using funds raised through the UNWG Annual International Bazaar, including proceeds from lottery ticket sales.
2019 Peru
The aim of the association “Congregacion del Buen Pastor” is to restore the dignity of marginalized communities (adults and young adults in extreme poverty, adolescents especially girls). It is currently involved in 19 projects located in 8 regions of Peru. The ” The Taller Augustina Rivas” (workshop) aims at providing women from an area of Peru with income generating skills to make up for their seasonal employment (April – July). The project has helped increase the income of these families. The funds were used to buy sewing machines, chairs, and tables.
2019 Philippines
ABS-CBN Foundation is an organization that rescues children victims of physical and sexual abuses and provides them protection, medical assistance, education and help to their families. The funds provide desktop computers for rescued children residing in the Children’s Village and trained them with basic computers skills. Computers will also help them in doing their homework, research and school projects.

REYES 3KEL Foundation, established in 2010, supports environmental and educational projects in support of impoverished communities. Funds were used for the development of a class dedicated to children with disability in the Ramos Central Elementary School.
2019 Puerto Rico
Asociacion de Intercambio Cultural seeks to empower women and girls through educational, economic and cultural activities. It helps them develop life skills and provides them with training to develop small businesses. The horticulture project aims to help girls and young women in the impoversihed and dangerous sectors of the town of Rio Grande. In addition to horticulture, they will be taught to organize a cooperative and acquire business skills. They are expected to teach others in the community.
2019 Sierra Leone
“Education for All Sierra Leone” provides education (or skills) to underprivileged children and women in a rural district of Sierra Leone. The funds were able to equip the school with solar panels in order to bring more light to the infrastructure, allowing the students to work and be trained in better conditions, facilitating access to electricity for all (training staff, administration, use of computer).
2019 Sri Lanka
Founded in 2013, the Crest Lanka Foundation provides primary and secondary education to children orphaned by war and professional training to women in poor communities. The Foundation is installing its definite headquarters in Colombo and needed the funds to renovate and adapt the building for its training, management and fund-raising activities.

Malegoda Junior School is a village school of the State Education System of Sri Lanka which serves a poor community. The State funds the teachers and the basics but parents are supposed to provide other resources (e.g. for English and computer classes). The aim of the project was to convert a classroom into a computer room and provide a computer unit.

NAADUTARO (Pastoralists’ Survival Options) s’occupe surtout de l’éducation des enfants de la communauté d’éleveurs Massaï du district de Kiteto. L’objectif du projet est de donner une formation en informatique a 15 jeunes filles de milieu très modeste afin de faciliter leur inclusion dans la vie professionnelle.

Lord’s Hill Highschool was established by the NGO Ilula Orphan Progam in 2012 and now has 160 students. Currently, the school can only provide its students with laboratory equipment during examinations and so the funds were used for laboratory equipment and chemicals.

Le projet a mobilisé les enfants et les jeunes du conservatoire autour de la réalisation d’un clip musical. Cela permettra l’initiation des élèves au monde de la culture et des arts à travers d’autres disciplines.

L’association prend partiellement en charge les enfants en difficulté. Le but est l’initiation aux techniques des métiers de l’informatique et multimédia. L’objectif à moyen terme est de lutter contre le décrochage scolaire.

Salud y Familia provides care and health education to children, young women and their families in three clinics in and around Caracas. Funds were requested to strengthen care by acquiring medical equipment such as ECG, nebulizer, tensiometer, 2 scales, electrosurgery equipment.
2018 Yemen
Al-Shareq elementary and secondary school was built for 900 students and now caters for 1257. The project wishes to provide material support to 40 students by providing them with winter jackets, school bags, books and other school materials.
2018 Afghanistan
Mina Foundation seeks to empower young Afghan women and girls by offering them training in tailoring, literacy, English and computer skills. The funds will be used to upgrade the equipment used in this training and include the purchase of computers, sewing machines, a projector and learning materials.

The Ayenda Foundation supports Afghan children by enhancing their welfare, education, shelter, safety, and artistic and athletic abilities. The Ayenda Learning Centre is a safe and nurturing home for Bamiyan’s orphans, providing them with a modern learning facility. Students’ desks and chairs, winter coats and winter boots will be purchased.
