The UNWG Geneva provides financial support for projects worldwide, dedicated to improving living conditions, healthcare, and education for disadvantaged children, and empowering women through vocational training and skills development. These micro-projects are designed to be completed within six months, with a maximum funding allocation of CHF 6,000 per project.
Funding applications are submitted by UNWG Geneva members and are carefully reviewed by the V-P Projects. Final approval for funding is granted by the UNWG Executive Committee.
To date, the UNWG Geneva has financed over 2,000 projects in more than 100 countries, using funds raised through the UNWG Annual International Bazaar, including proceeds from lottery ticket sales.
2019 Argentina
Asociacion Cultural Bonaerense (ACB) is an NGO that promotes educational, cultural and social activities for children and young women. The project has three parts: (1) Family education for young mothers (home management, children education, values training), (2) education for young girls (cooking and nutrition), and (3) a reading club. The funds were used for classroom equipment (computer, printer, projector, speaker, microphone), kitchen equipment (incl. refrigerator) and books.

Le Club Atlético Argentino de Lopez est une organisation dont l’idée de départ est de promouvoir l’insertion sociale, le développement personnel, professionnel à travers la pratique d’activités sportives. Ce centre a aussi vocation d’espace social et recréatif. Il est à la disposition de la communauté (réunions familiales, fête). Ce projet a aidé des enfants en situation de précarité et de vulnérabilité d’une localité rurale. Les contributions apportées par le biais de ce projet permettront l’accès au sport et aux activités physiques.
2019 Armenia
Autism National Foundation seeks to provide therapy, training and community for autistic children. Over the last 12 years it has grown from 6 to 160 children, from several therapists to a staff of 70. Over the years, services have evolved: free entry for every student, need to stretch activities and projects – as the children age – to age specific program and training. A second building has been acquired and is being renovated. Funds were used to renovate the heating system.
2019 Belarus
The State Educational Institution “Center for Correction and Development Education and Rehabilitation of Beshenkovichi” was created in 2002 to provide an integrated system of psychological and medical assistance to persons with special needs. The project is to develop the use of the sensory integration therapy which uses tactile, proprioceptive and vestibular senses to acquire and develop full sensory experiences and facilitate the development of personality as a whole.

People Improvement Organization (PIO) is a local NGO created in 2002 to provide education to children working in Phnom Penh garbage dump. It has expanded to a school providing education to over 1500 children aged 3-22. The funds were used to expand the use of computers in education and bring the benefits of educational technology to all students on a regular basis.

Somnang Association vient en aide aux enfants vivant avec leurs familles dans une ancienne décharge de Phnom Penh. Le projet a pour but d’améliorer les conditions de vie des enfants du quartier de Stung Mean Chey en leur apportant des outils éducatifs et de divertissement dans le centre de jour du quartier. Les fonds sont utilisés pour l’achat d’ordinateurs, jeux éducatifs et voyage au bord de la mer.

IMPACT Cambodia (2nd year funding) is one of 14 IMPACT Organization and is affiliated to the International Federation of IMPACT Organizations (IFIO). The goal is to promote, support and engage in various actions to prevent, reduce or remedy the causes of disability which is an important cause of poverty and marginalization in poor countries. The aim of the project is to support the education of children at Srae Kach School, in Boribo District, Kampong Schnang Province, by providing them with facilities like water and electricity.

Las Valles Foundation is an NGO dedicated to the socio-economic promotion of young women with low income. The funds will be used for buying a computer, installing hydraulic system for water dispenser, electrical installation for computers and kitchen, and large working tables.

Fiat Gaudium is a foundation which aims to provide spaces and tools to improve education levels, stabilize composition of the family unit, promote economic independence, and promote peace and reconciliation in the community. The TIZA project is an innovative learning methodolgy based on “learning CLUBS” – art club, dialog club, social dimension (learning to live with others), culture, sports, theatre, learning to learn. Funds were used for sewing equipment to scale up the manufacture of teddy bears as income generating and community building project.
2019 Costa Rica
The Luis Gamboa Araya School is a small school in Vuelta de Kooper, Alajuela Province, catering for the needs of 65 pupils from very low income families working in dairy farms and fruit plantations. It rains heavily and almost throughout the year in the area where the school is located. The purpose of the project is to protect children from the rain when they move between the structures and when they use the multipurpose space. Funds were used for the roofing over an area of about 88 square meters and eaves extension over a multipurpose space for cultural activities and sports.
2019 Côte d’Ivoire
Le Centre culturel Okassou est une initiative de EDE (Education et Developpement) en faveur de l’autonomisation des femmes. Les fonds sont utilisés pour acheter des étagères, tables, chaises, ordinateur, matériel didactique, livres pour encourager la scolarité des jeunes filles dans deux villages proches de Yamoussoukro: sensibilisation des parents, encouragement à la lecture, concours de lecture, bibliothèque ambulante.
2019 Dominican Republic
INDESCO (Iniciativas de Educacion Superior y Complementaria) is an NGO committed to socio-educational development. It contributes to infrastructure and training, mostly in the La Vega Province. Funds were used for training in the transformation of fresh produce into artisanal preserves and bread, in entrepreneurship, hygiene and food handling, fundamentals of bakery and pastry – to promote microenterprises by women. Income of the project will be invested in a scholarship fund for beneficiaries.

ADEFOR : Association pour le développement et la formation – L’objectif principal de l’association est de former des jeunes filles du quartier Righini, un quartier très démuni dans la périphérie de Kinshasa à un métier qui leur permet de gagner leur vie pour qu’elles deviennent des personnes responsables et utiles à la société. Les fonds sont utilisé pour formation professionnelle au centre Selembao à Kinshasa dans le domaine de la restauration: cuisineboulangerie et gestion.

FUNORSAL was created to support the highland people of Ecuador – some of the poorest and least educated in the country. It runs three integrated programs in education, conservation and innovation. With the goal of empowering indigenous women for education and health, this is an Incomegenerating project of wool creation. Getting a specialised wool washing machine has cut the amount of work in half.
2019 Egypt
Peace and Plenty Association provides assistance to the needy. The association intervenes in various fields: education, health, housing and environment. The aim of the project is to provide access to employment through specialized vocational and technical training on sewing appliance repairs, electricity, and entrepreneurship. It is worth noting that the project originated from the ladies themselves as it was also a means to face any contingency in the absence of the spouse or a male relative. The funds financed three-fold training in the form of a 20 days workshop.
